JOB DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
The Tax Manager plays a key role in the corporate Tax Department with primary responsibility for income tax accounting matters, and will assist with mergers and acquisitions, tax planning and research. The individual will be required to interact with Company personnel outside of the tax group as well as with outside consultants.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the Company’s accounting for income tax compliance with all GAAP, SEC and SOX requirements and accounting for income tax processes;
- Manage the preparation of all income tax matters included in the Company’s financial statements, footnotes, SEC filings, press releases and other public documents;
- Manage and mitigate the enterprise risk associated with accounting for income taxes;
- Manage the communication of accounting for income tax matters to Company senior management;
- Manage the Tax Department’s processes regarding timely recognition of period specific income tax matters including tax law changes, valuation allowance changes and changes to income tax estimates;
- Manage the Tax Department’s compliance with the internal control standards of the Company and SOX;
- Direct the Tax Department’s participation/inclusion in either or both internal and external examinations of the Company’s accounting for income taxes;
- Direct the conduct of the Tax Department’s relationship with the Company’s external auditors;
- Take a lead role in providing technical expertise on accounting for income taxes and legal entity accounting;
- Interface with and support the Company on matters concerning accounting for income taxes and legal entity accounting;
- Manage and coordinate communication of tax assumptions and projections used by and/or provided by other departments of the Company;
- Assist in domestic and international mergers, acquisitions and other tax planning and research projects;
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with Masters Degree in Taxation preferred; CPA
- 8+ years relevant work experience;
- Thorough working knowledge of FAS 109/FIN48;
- Fundamental understanding of FAS123R preferred;
- Broad understanding of general tax and accounting principles;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), TaxStream, and BNA Tax Portfolios;
- Detail–oriented, ability to multitask, establish priorities and meet deadlines;
- Strong communication (written and oral), research and analytical skills;
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
