JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Description
Company Combined has undergone significant growth over the past 5 years, which has led to the requirement for greater management and control. The vision is to double the portfolio to $1bn by 2012 and in order to meet the future growth plan, we are seeking a Portfolio Manager who will play a key role in identifying profitable segments for growth. We are offering a unique opportunity to manage a substantial and growing portfolio with an international focus of more than 50 countries, using a range of portfolio management techniques. With 8 direct reports from across the globe, this is a truly international role and an opportunity to help shape the future of a key profit centre.
- Establish world-wide portfolio standards.
- Work closely with the Underwriting Manager to monitor changes as part of the underwriting review.
- Liaise with corporate actuary for both IBNR.
- Implement a pricing model.
- Catastrophe management and modeling within the profit centre.
- Training and development of field staff on corporate techniques.
- Provide key data input for reinsurance.
- Analyse trends, rates, loss ratios and the performance of the portfolio, as well as providing statistical analyse, underwriter performance, broker performance and trade specific performance.
- Gather information from other Portfolio Managers from across the various regions, and collate data to provide statistical information and analysis to all parties involved with the management of the profit centre.
- Ensure that all appropriate data is collected, coded and input into the relevant systems, and that systems are available for data extraction and analysis.
- Responsibility for production of all periodic and ad hoc reports for the management of the company Combined business.
- Maximise portfolio management tools to ensure sound rationale for budget planning.
- Monitor and review costs to control direct and indirect costs.
- International travel will be required. 10% of time anticipated.
- To carry out your significant management functions is apportioned by UK’s Governing Bodies within the framework of UK’s TCF policy.
- To ensure that performance objectives are set and assessed against the relevant FSA TCF outcomes.
- To carry out your accountabilities and objectives within the framework of UK’s TCF policy.
- Comply with key regulatory and risk management procedures.
Skills/Experience Required
- Proven experience within a similar role/industry
- Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.
- Actuarial background a plus.
- Commercial insurance portfolio management background with focus on the SME segment a plus.
- Strong excel/access skills.
- Strong profit and loss understanding.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Self starter with an ability to discover problems and implement solutions.
