A successful New York City based publisher seeks Director of Finance. Reports to CFO, will ensure that financial statements are in accordance with GAAP and SOX. Report company performance and identify opportunities for cost cutting initiatives. Prepare annual budget, monthly forecast, and other financial reports. Define and analyze key areas of the business, including profitability, inventory, reserve for returns, author advances, and royalties. Contribute to strategic planning and development. Support monthly financial close. Balance sheet and P/L analysis, reconciliation. Enhance financial analysis and reporting. Develop cost reduction and cost management initiatives.
Skills - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and CPA required. Strong understanding of GAAP. Approximately 8 to 12 years progressive accounting/finance experience in BOOK PUBLISHING. Exceptional analytical and financial analysis skills with strong attention for details. Strong computer proficiency, including expert Excel skills. Oracle/SQL a plus. Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to organize and work with large amounts of data. Ability to establish rapport and work efficiently with team members. Exceptional communication skills with ability to present analysis and findings to all levels of management.Publishing experience is REQUIRED.
