Project Cost Estimator

A reputable firm in Los Angeles is seeking a Cost Estimator to prepare preliminary and final independent cost estimates of projects for comparison with designer or contractor for PM/CM to establish negotiating position. They will prepare change order estimates, provide support in price negotiations, prepare claim analyses and estimates, and prepare detailed estimates of construction costs based on drawings, specs and sketches. They will also review contractor’s claims and proposals for merit and accountability.

Requirements and Experience Required:

Minimum 7 years experience in construction estimating of facilities or school construction. BS or BA in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management or a closely related field. Knowledge of the current local construction labor and material costs. Extensive experience in developing and estimating the scope of work for change orders. Ability to compare the independent cost estimate with contractor proposal to quickly identify differences. Ability to develop scope of work based on FRI/RFC answers and estimates the detailed costs of those scopes of work independent of the contractor proposal.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or otherwise presently authorized to work fulltime in the U.S. Employer will not sponsor visas.

Excellent organizational, leadership, communication and analytical skills a necessity.
