Position Description

Chartis International has an opportunity for a Vice President, Underwriting in its International Surety Department.

As a Vice President, Underwriting the incumbent will be responsible for the following:

Manage the Chartis International Captive Surety Program – developing new business, maintaining franchise client relationships, setting out business development plan for acquiring new business.

Manage the LAD Home Office Book of Business –supporting the regional/local underwriters.

Manage their portfolio of accounts.

Analyze the financial strength of individual companies, their position among their peers, their risks/mitigants. etc.  Be able to complete a credit analysis, including a financial analysis, a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) and a Porter.

Analysis (industry position, company operations, suppliers, buyers, raw materials, systemic versus external risks, key risk profile).

Conduct due diligence reviews on companies and on projects and prepare credit submissions.

Must be versant in credit analysis and deal presentation.

Will be responsible for defending credit position to Business Profit
Center Manager as well as AIU Credit Officers.

Needs to be able to clearly and articulately craft their business/credit arguments.  Must be detailed in their analysis but also able to see the big picture.

Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Able to negotiate deals contracts and agreements with clients.

Must be willing to travel.

Must have strong sales and/or relationship management experience.

Prefer industry expertise in project finance, construction, heavy manufacturing, power generation, larger engineering or technical manufacturing/diversified industry.  

International experience or experience analyzing international companies a plus.

Position Requirements

Ten plus years experience as a credit and/or financial analyst reviewing diversified clients.

Strong financial background  -- comfortable with both private and public financial statements (for both domestic US and international companies).

Three- Five plus years direct client access/sales/negotiations/relationship management.

Overseas or international experience a plus.

Bank credit trained preferred.

MBA preferred.
