JOB DESCRIPTION
The McGraw-Hill Companies is one of the worlds leading providers of information services and publishers of educational, business and professional informationReporting to the VP of M&A, Alliances and Ventures, this position is responsible for partnering with business leaders in shaping and executing the companys global growth strategy. Through the guidance and direction of the VP, the focus of this position will be on Acquisitions, Divestitures, Partnerships/Alliances and Venture Investments.
Acquisitions: In partnership with the VP, develop acquisition criteria and strategy. Partner with business leaders to understand business unit strategies. Provide consultation to business units in evaluation, negotiation and structuring of potential acquisitions and partnerships.
New Business Opportunities: Research and
identify new opportunities for business unit growth in adjacent markets. Develop high-level strategic plans to seize attractive opportunities.
Corporate and Segment Initiatives: Translate corporate and segment initiatives into specific actions to take place at the business unit level. Provide analysis and resources to drive and support Segment initiatives (e.g. quantify initiative potential and value captured). Support implementation of corporate initiatives.
MH Ventures: Support the VP in monitoring existing MH Ventures portfolio and assessing potential new investments and divestitures.
- Approximately [5-7] years relevant experience (investment banking, private equity, equity research, management consulting, or corporate strategy, ideally with some experience in an industry aligned with one of MHPs business segments). Some prior transaction experience is essential
- Ability to frame options related to business issues and independently develop details and analysis
- Excellent oral and written communication skills - equally effective in formal and informal settings
- Excellent analytical skills and financial acumen; able to structure and direct sophisticated business analysis and modeling and present financial justification of recommendations
- Ability to effectively engage with senior and executive management and potential business partners to convey information, defend positions, reach consensus and obtain buy-in.
- Demonstrated project management skills with ability to develop and implement business strategies and assess business performance in a cross functional and deadline-driven environment
- Bachelors degree, MBA required
