Chief of Valuation (Residential Mortgage)

ABOUT

We have been retained by a Dallas, TX-based private equity firm to identify a Chief of Valuation.  Our client is investing heavily in distressed residential real estate by way of large-scale pools of whole mortgage loans.  The firm’s strategy involves acquiring bulk assets at a discount and then executing asset disposition with a modification and refinance exit strategy.  Positioned inside the private equity firm, the Chief of Valuation will play a key role in the firm’s long-term, go-forward strategy to acquire and monetize large pools (north of $1billion in face) of underperforming whole loans.

THE ROLE

This position will report to a senior-level Director inside of the private equity firm.  The challenge is lead people, process and technology to deliver valuation solutions that facilitate:

+ accurate and profitable acquisition of bulk asset pools

+ appropriate modification of individual loans

+ efficient, timely and accurate refinancing take-outs of individual loans

Above all else, the role will focus on driving the firm’s performance as measured by Internal Rate of Return and NPV models. 

This position is a newly created role.  It is a highly-visible opportunity wherein the successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead the valuation of large scale pools of distressed assets while participating in due diligence, acquisition and asset disposition.  The right candidate will have the opportunity to continuously take on new responsibilities and to expand the role as the business progresses. 

DESIRED CREDENTIALS

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10-15 years of experience in the appraisal/residential-valuation field coupled with deep expertise in macro economic factors, micro-specific issues (i.e. MSA trends), analytics, metrics, etc.  The right leader will be a highly effective executive with demonstrated leadership and communication skills.  A bachelor’s degree is required, additional credentials may be considered a plus.
