Provides direction and coordination to the finance functions of the organization. Responsible for maintaining the company’s financial policies and procedures by providing direction to finance or accounting managers. Determines financial needs of organization and individual departments. Keeps executive-level management informed of departmental progress and problems. Responsible for resource allocation, including budget and personnel. This position typically reports to the Chief Financial Officer or Finance Executive. Usually requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in finance or accounting with at least five years of management responsibility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for maintaining the company’s financial policies and procedures by providing direction to one or more finance or accounting managers.
• Implements established policies and procedures throughout finance and accounting departments.
• Determines financial needs of organization and individual departments.
• Reviews working capital/cash flow requirements on a regular basis
• Direct and oversee all aspects of financial and accounting practices including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, monthly close, and accounting policies and procedures.
• Develop, monitor and maintain effective controls over the accounting system according to GAAP and SOP 97-2.
• Oversee the development, maintenance, and control over the budget/plan program including direct and indirect expenses and allocations. Ensures all budget/plan reporting requirements are met.
• Ensure financial statements, ledgers, and records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), including SOP 97-2 compliance; IRS regulations; federal, state, and local laws, and Company policies and procedures.
• Current knowledge of revenue recognition requirements under various technical literatures (SOP 97-2).
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance; CPA or MBA desirable. Minimum of ten years of experience in finance or accounting with minimum of five years of experience in management.
