VP, Controller

Choice Logistics is seeking a professional to join our team in the role of VP, Controller.

The VP, Controller will provide leadership and work jointly with other accounting staff to close accounting periods, generate financial and other management reports, and perform analysis to help evaluate financial performance and support management decisions. This position has responsibility to maintain and enforce internal controls in accordance with company policies and industry best practices.

The VP, Controller will report directly to the CFO and work closely with him on managing fiscal policy, developing budgets and forecasts, as well as presenting financial and management information to the executives of the organization.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Ensure necessary internal controls are in place to maintain integrity and accuracy of information


• Identify areas for improvement including internal controls, accounting processes and budgeting/forecasting


• Manage treasury functions, including daily cash positions, FX and transfers


• Prepare, review and analyze monthly financial statements


• Analyze and reconcile revenue and expense accounts to annual budget


• Prepare weekly, monthly and adhoc financial, payroll and management information reports and analysis


• Prepare and file mandatory tax returns and reports with the appropriate Federal, State, and Local agencies


• Prepare year-end closing and preparation for annual audit and certification of financials


• Establish and implement short and long term departmental goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures


• Maintain vendor and customer relations


• Responsible for the preparation of the annual budgets


• Work on special projects as needed

Qualified candidates for this position will possess:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; MBA/CPA preferred


• 15+ years experience in senior level accounting positions and in a controllership position


• Excellent MS Office skills, including PowerPoint


• Ability to prepare and deliver presentations


• Knowledge of GAAP and FASB’s


• Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations


• Knowledge of transfer pricing, VAT and foreign exchange


• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections


• Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting, forecasting and profitability analysis


• Strong leadership abilities
