Controller

Vident, a leading supplier of innovative dental products, including the renowned VITA Shade Guides, has an outstanding opportunity for a Controller.  Vident provides an ideal environment for a goal-oriented, high-energy professional who knows how to lead the company’s accounting activities.

This challenging position will be responsible for:

• Overseeing and directing staff on accounting tasks including general ledger entries, coding, credit worthiness evaluations and resolving appropriate accounting treatments.


• Supervising the administration of credit and collections policies and overseeing accounts payables and several accountants and financial analyst.


• Interviewing and hiring qualified personnel; will be responsible for scheduling the training and indoctrination of any new staff member. 


• Administering and analyzing annual cost accounting to ensure accuracy in cost of sales.  


• Directing and coordinating company financial planning and budget management functions; and ensuring the accurate preparation of monthly financial statements.


• Serving as advisor to senior management regarding financial matters and performance. 


• Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.


• Directing financial audits and providing recommendations for procedural improvements.


• Understanding and coordinating the activities of the IT department and computer system management.

Knowledge and skills requirements:

• CPA preferred; Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with a concentration in Finance or Accounting.


• At least 10 years accounting experience including 5 years successfully managing accounting personnel in a variety of accounting functions. 


• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.


• Knowledge of international foreign subsidiaries and/or vendors and currency exchange transactions.


• Experience with completing state and federal regulatory filings (e.g. IRS, California Franchise Board).


• Strong supervisory experience; professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate a team to produce quality materials within tight deadlines and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate meetings.


• The ideal candidate will have a distribution industry background.
