Tax Senior

Primary Purpose of the Position

Responsible for assisting Tax Manager in all aspects of tax reporting, including tax return workpaper preparation and basic research. 

Major duties of the position

1. Achieve and maintain a working knowledge of the business operations of assigned entities.


2. Monitor the accumulation of requisite tax data and assist in the preparation of the companies’ federal and state income tax returns and calculate related quarterly estimated tax and return extension payments.


3. Conduct miscellaneous tax research.


4. Conduct tax accounting activities, including deferred tax analysis, income tax provision and tax related financial disclosures.


5. Prepare and maintain “permanent schedules”, including tax bases analysis, cumulative book/tax differences, earnings and profits, etc.


6. Maintain tax records and ensure proper tax accounting.


7. Assist in the accumulation of requested information and review of proposed audit adjustments by IRS and state and local taxing authorities.


8. Assist in all miscellaneous tax compliance activities.

 Knowledge and Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and, at minimum, 3-5 years’ work experience. 


• Previous experience must include tax reporting responsibilities for S-corporations, partnerships, and individuals. 


• Strong computer skills (Excel and Word) and experience with tax preparation and research programs (i.e., Prosystems, RIA, BNA). 


• Ability to work independently and as part of the tax team.


• Ability to follow directions and yet offer alternative solutions to superiors.


• Good oral and written communication skills.
