JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:         Accounting Manager


Reports to:      Controller


Job Description:


The accounting manager role will be a key position for maintaining financial accounting and control for retail broker dealers.  This position will require a highly organized, analytical thinker with experience in complex environments, who enjoys daily challenges and is persistent as well as resourceful in getting to the right answer.


 The Accounting Manager will have the responsibility of managing the daily activity of the Accounting staff  and maintaining accurate books.  A qualified candidate will have in depth knowledge of:


  • Bank Reconciliations, Procedures and Controls.

  • Standard monthly closing procedures.

  • Standard Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.

  • Standard Fixed Asset Accounting processes.

Responsibilities:


  • Supervise daily workflow of 2 accountants.

  • Assist with preparation/review of monthly financial statement analysis and related notes to financial statements.

  • Preparation/Review of intercompany transactions and intercompany statements of account.

  • Document and implement controls and procedures.

  • Respond to requests from regulators and external auditors.

Qualifications:


  • 5 plus years experience in accounting.

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Science or Engineering.

  • CPA is a plus.

  • Must be able to manage daily workflow of accounting staff in order to meet daily accounting requirements.

Other Specific Skills & Knowledge:


  • Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work without constant supervision.

  • Prior experience in highly automated environment a plus.

  • Prior experience with Oracle Financials a plus.

  • Broker Dealer and/or Futures Commissions Merchant experience a plus.

  • Excellent Analytical Skills.

  • Ability to evaluate current procedures and design and implement changes in order to streamline operations, while ensuring sufficient checks and balances.

  • Prior experience in highly automated environment a plus.

  • Knowledge of multi-currency accounting a plus.
