JOB DESCRIPTION
Coordinate and oversee the functions of the Accounts Payable, Payroll, Fixed Assets, Budgeting and Forecasting, Internal Auditing and all other General Ledger functions in the preparation and consolidation of monthly and annual financial statements, budget and forecasting, account analysis, and statistical reports. Ensure all areas of the Hospital are better able to understand and monitor costs using the Cost Accounting System.
Responsible for ensuring accuracy and efficiency in each area’s day to day activities and operations. Assists the Vice President Finance/CFO with interviewing and hiring accounting personnel and provides input for subsequent annual performance evaluations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures all financial statements are prepared accurately and timely for internal, external, State, and or Federal distribution.
- Coordinates and oversees all month end, quarter end, and year end closings to ensure timeliness, accuracy and adherence to all Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Reviews and edits all monthly entries into the General Ledger for accuracy and appropriateness before submission to the Vice President Finance/CFO for final review and approval.
- Establishes policies and controls and reviews mechanisms to ensure all systems and procedures are being followed correctly.
- Monitors performance of all General Accounting personnel continuously to ensure their compliance to departmental policies and procedures.
- Develop, analyze and interpret the financial records in order to evaluate operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget and other matters impacting the fiscal accuracy and operating efficiency of the Center.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 3-5 years of supervisory or consulting experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of and experience with automated systems required.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals.
- Ability to perform and supervise the performance of a variety of projects and receive unexpected high priority assignments.
- Ability to resolve complex problems, which require strong analytical skills.
- Ability to set objectives, delegate and prioritize workflow to meet the overall objectives or the Center.
- Ability to plan, organize, supervise, train and review the work of the general accounting staff.
