Job Summary:

Responsible for the business and technical activities of a team consisting of approximately 65 people in the US, UK, and China, which generates $20M plus in annual revenue. The Director reports to the Vice President of the SwRI Powertrain Engineering Division, and is part of the Division’s four- member senior management team. The Director coordinates efforts with the Division’s other two departments, as well as with other divisions at the Institute.

Education/Experience:

Requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering or closely related degree with 5 years of management experience in product design and/or development in the automotive engine industry, and a minimum of 20 years of functional/management experience. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Advanced degree preferred. Requires a strong technical background, excellent oral and written communications skills, and competency in dealing with global clients. Consulting experience or global business experience is essential, including demonstration of the ability to successfully build a program and lead design, analysis, and/or development personnel at all levels. The successful candidate will have a strong vision and be responsible for working with reporting managers and other directors to set the department’s business and technology strategies to achieve long-term growth. Building teamwork within the department and Division is a key to continued success. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
